I keep all chickens as pets including males.Few years got a rooster in batch of chicks and he turned out to be the under dog of the two other males.Of course, took him under my wing as always. He sat in my lap in the house, that’s the only time he crowed.Have never ever had an issue with him attacking us,always been a family man.He does fine around kids, and is on his third year.He typically gives all of his treats to his hens, accept for scratch.Scratch is like the ultimate treat and only thing I have ever seen him eat constantly, and even gets snappy with the girls soemtiems over it,it’s kind of hilarious. On his second year,he recently got in the habit of pecking my grandpa and grandmas legs when they would go to feed him, only at dinner time, until they kicked him.Never did it to me till this spring recently.Which we talked about until he did again today. He neevr attack’s aggressivly. Its like a normal peck such as if he sees something on you.No wing dancing,no fight stance just peck.No aggression stances or anything. My guess was he is excited to get food and is just to excited he can’t hold it,thought he peck was telling me to hurry my stuff up!But,I am unsure, anyone else have a bird like this?I don’t think he has aggressive genes cause all his sons are super friendl.

I have hens that peck my feet/legs when I'm getting stuff out for them. I agree I think it's just a way to say "hey hurry up" or "where's mine"

My chickens occasionally peck at me when I go to feed them. If they aren't attacking or anything, it is probably normal. Hens sitting on eggs can draw blood when they peck, so you would be able to tell the difference between angry peck or curious hungry peck.

It's very rude behavior, and I'd correct it, either in hens or roosters. It is aggressive; not fighting, but no bird pecks the dominant hens or roosters in the flock, so it's just not respectful. Pecking can become painful, so don't wait to see how hard those pecks can become either.

I have a rooster that attacked me one evening while bringing out the whole corn. He was upset that I feed the caged birds before him and his girls. My answer was to turn around, and go back inside, with the corn. After they went to roost, I locked them in and feed the caged birds (roosters). IDK what the girls told him, but he has not done that since. He walks beside me talking the whole time.
MY girls will untie my shoes, they think those strings look like tasty worms.
