Is this a GLW? Doesn't look like one to me, but I'm new...

I don't have intentions of breeding or showing in the future, so when I figured out that Lacy has a straight comb and should have a rose comb, I wasn't concerned. I have read that hatchery wyandottes often do have a straight comb, even if they shouldn't. As she has grown, she has not feathered like the other pics of wyandottes that I have seen and I have started to question, what exactly is she? This is my first attempt at loading pictures so, here goes nothing ;)

She is the one on the right, the other is my RIR cockerel Henry

She is in between the Henry and Peaber the PBR

She is the one in the front

She was a darker chipmunk color as a chick. We had an EE chick then as well and she was a darker, more defined chipmunk. I have been convinced off and on the she is partridge rock or a wellsummer. I have also thought brown leghorn or EE. Her earlobes, I believe, are showing up a pink color, so that rules out the leghorn thought. She could still be an EE, but really doesn't have any of the standard looks of an EE. The tail, comb, leg color, and body shape are wrong (yes they are mixed breeds, but hatchery stock tend to have some tell tales and similarities. I have actually read the entire EE Braggers thread and EE sexing tips, when I lurk, I lurk, lol). The pics don't show it well but there is a brown wash on her legs that none of the others have, it is similar to the Peaber's black wash. She is somewhere between 13 and 15 weeks old in these pics (she was one of the younger ones so probably closer to 13 with Peaber being the oldest). She has just started to get some pink in her comb and developing wattles in the past week so I am pretty convinced she is a she.

She's definately a girl, so that's a start. Not a wyandotte and I agree on the easter egger part. I'm guessing she's hatchery? My best guess is Welsummer. The color's not 100%, but again......hatchery. When she lays you'll have a good idea. A nice dark terra-cotta colored egg will mean Welsummer.

Agreed. Wellsummer, looks like mine except yours doesn't have as orange of a neck mane, I love my Wellsummer she is my sweetest girl I have.

In an ironic twist of fate, I bought a GLW because they didn't have wellsummers. I will chalk it up to a hatchery mislabel for now, and wait for eggs. Another funny side note, I have doubted that she was a wellsummer because her feathers seemed brighter than pics I have seen. Over all, she seems to be redder than wellie pics I've seen. I am pretty excited that she might be a wellie since that was on my top breed list. Oh, another thing I have noticed is that Welles seem to have a yellow beak, hers is mostly um....horn colored?

I think she looks like a really light colored Black Sex Link....I got one out of the "EE" bin at my local TSC that looks exactly the same. But her body shape, comb, leg color and eggs look identical to my BSL hens.

Hmmm, a black sex link is a definite possibility. It would explain why she doesn't quite look like anything else. Also, there were black sex links where I bought her. The pics I had seen of BSL were always a black chicken, but seeing the other pic of a lighter version makes me think it is possible. I have a mental pic of the layout of the chick bins in my head, the BSL were up and to the right a few bins over from the wyandottes but there were a few escapes while I was there so it is easy to picture one getting out and traveling. My memory of them paints them as darker chicks but she was very dark....like a mahogany with a slight chipmunk pattern to her. I didn't start taking pictures of her until she was almost fully feathered. So my memory is all I have to go on.

BSL was not on my list, but on the bright side they are rumored to be better layers than wyandottes or wellies. The egg will tell.

Looking at her mane in the sunlight, it is golden but not as defined as the wellie pics.
