I’m suspicious of 2 of my hatchery sexed birds.
Spudnut is a 6 week old Easter Egger. She is the largest chick in her clutch, larger than the BO. (The size difference was significant around 2-3 weeks but has evened out more now). Her feathers have come in cleanly like a pullet. Comb is a little pink, not a lot. I’ve heard you can sometimes tell gender by how many “peas” are on the comb, but I’ve also heard that’s not true for EEs since they don’t always have true pea combs. Anyone think they can tell if Spud is a boy or girl?
At 5 weeks:
Next is Traci. She’s a 4 week old Silverudd’s Blue. Largest in her clutch of 4 Silverrudd’s so I do have some apples to apples comparison. She’s been the largest in the group since day 1, and currently has the largest and pinkest comb. She’s the most dominant and outgoing in her clutch. Any guesses on her?
Apparently I don’t have many good pics of her. I’ll try to add a few more today.
