Is this a going to be a Rose comb????

Pretty hens!

Were you getting any white chicks, with either rooster, before you had the Leghorns?

From what I can find online, it's likely that the Leghorns might produce white chicks from both roosters.

And I'm sure your White Jersey Giant rooster could produce white chicks with some hens: certainly with a White Jersey Giant hen he would!

White is certainly confusing in chickens, because of the different genes that can cause it.
Well isn't that interesting! I didn't have the leghorns before, and I didn't have Fowler before (this year). Unless I cage Fowler up for 2 months, wait a month and incubate another leghorn egg I won't really know for sure. That would be exciting to experiment and see! Thanks!

Any pea combs are Fowler's chicks, but chicks with single combs could come from either rooster, so unfortunately that won't help figure out if Leghorn + Harvey = white. Since you mention Harvey's chicks growing quite large, you may be able to recognize some that way.

I took some more photos today. I see one of the white chicks has a single comb, but most of them do not. Most of my photos were not clear, the chicks are so active they don't sit still long enough for a clear photo! I'll post the photos I was able to get today. They are 13 days old now.

The second and third chick, that you label as having "no comb," actually have pea combs--so their father is Fowler, the Ameraucana/Welsummer mix rooster. I think I see fat cheeks too, so they might have beards like their dad.

The first chick I can't see the comb clearly (looks fuzzy). Probably the chick moved its head at the wrong moment :)

I just put "no comb" to indicate there is nothing very obvious there. The first chick definitely has a single comb. See if this shot works better. They are running and wing flapping and chest bumping and it's a miracle I get any shots of them at all! And check out the legs on this gray chick. This gray was the first one that hatched. Unusual color and pattern for legs I would say. I would love it if some of them had beards! I love them cute chicken beards for sure! I can't wait for them to grow up! I'm not in love with chick raising, I'd much rather the broody hen do that for me!

Update on my incubator chicks. They are now 23 days old, integrated with the flock and panting up a storm with everyone else (including me!) It's 107 in the shade here today and we are all suffering. Anyway I did get some decent photos of their heads. I even think I have a little cockerel identified already! What do you think?

Do you mean the pink-comb yellow chick on the right in the first picture (also has bright wattles), or the chick with a pink comb and gray down in the second picture, or the one with paler comb and black down in the third picture, or the one with a somewhat enlarged comb and yellow down in the fourth picture?

I'm pretty sure the one in the first photo is a cockerel, and I suspect the next three are cockerels as well (but I'm less sure about them.)

Yes, I am talking about the white chick in the first photo being a little boy. The others are not obvious to me. But I did have thoughts about that 2nd photo of the grey chick ending up a boy. He was the first hatchling! I was hoping to escape the 50% rule this time!! I have 9 total, 5 black and 4 white. They run around so much it is VERY hard to get clear photos of them. It was horrible hot today (107) and I got these photos as they were sitting, there were only 6 there. I don't know where the others were. They all came out and went into their metal coop later on for some chick food! When I get them alone to feed them they act like they haven't seen food for a week! I'm never doing this again, by the way. Thanks ever so for your input! ;)
