Is this a good cold weather breed?

Yup an EE cockerel. Definitely a boy. Along with those pointy hackle and saddle feathers those brighter reddish patches on the wings are a definite clue. Girls don't have those patchy colors and the don't have red on the wings. They are more of an orangy brown color.

ETA: I meant to say, most commonly, the girls are an orangy brown. They can be other colors too...but not that red color.

Thank you all for the replies and help. Kind of a bummer on him being a cockerel, though. I was hoping for green eggs (to go with the ham you know

I crack myself up).

I also think I got several more roos in this order than I wanted. Should be interesting when they start trying to impress the ladies.
