I raise turkey's, all heritage breeds and they are very well fed and tended to. My day olds start at $10 and go to $15, my young toms are $50 and my young hens are $75.
I am not taking advantage of anybody, nor am I making any money off of them. I just happen to love turkey's.
So that is very good prices.
Me too, raising good turkey's is not cheap, even when they get to free range.I agree with you. My turkeys get fed the best feed (high protein) and are VERY well taken care of. People say that I have THE best looking turkeys in town. I do not barter or decrease my turkey prices for anyone. It takes a lot to raise poults and turkeys. I sell my turkeys for a higher price as well. People ask me if I can take a few dollars off the price and may answer is NO.
When folks but my pairs (tom and hen), they are buying an investment. The pairs that they buy will be used for breeding and selling poults, so that person is making money. So, they should be ready to pay. They will get their money back over and over again because they will always make money.
My day old poults start at $12.00. My prices are the same as many of the hatcheries.

I will put them in my own freezer first. But I try very hard not to hatch out more than I can sell or that I am needing to keep to add to my stock.
And I have people that don't bat an eye at the prices, I know these folk's know what it cost to raise a good animal. And other's that say " I can get them for $7.00 at the feed store." I tell them politely, those are meat birds and by all means go to the feed store.![]()
