so im concidering having a flock consisting of an easter egger, a barred rock, a goldenlaced wyandotte, and austrolarp, a speckled sussex, and a buff orpington. would this work or will some of these breeds pick of the others.

Hi and welcome to BYC - glad that you have joined us. Many members have mixed flocks with no problems, so I'd suggest that it will be perfectly fine, providing they all have sufficient coop and run space.

Greetings from Kansas and :welcome. Pleased you joined our community. As CTKen said, many are advocates of mixed flocks and I am among that group. I think the breeds you selected will get along famously. The EE is a little smaller than the others, but the remaining are of about the same size and temperament. Good luck to you and best wishes! :yiipchick

, much success with your flock!

Sure! There will be a boss..always a boss. But, the others get to know the pecking order. They don't fight, they just turn towards the others if it wants the food or treats first. :)
