Guinea egg shells are VERY hard and thick. Very noticeably different from chicken eggs. In fact there's been a few times when I've had to use guinea eggs for a while, because we were shy on chicken eggs. Then when I switched back to chicken eggs I'd make a big mess cracking the first egg! I'd hit it REALLY hard on the edge of the bowl, out of habit!

They take 28 days, but ine always seemed to want to hatch at 26

I've noticed this too! Mine take about 26-27 days. Most places say 28 days, but I have seen a few that say 26-28 days incubation, including the main guinea website. I can't remember the name of the website, but while you're on it your cursor is a guinea chasing a tick!

BTW, I've found guinea eggs easier to incubate than chicken eggs. The keets are hardier, and rarely need assistance. Those extra few days seem to drag on forever though!

I sure hope it is. Both of the "parents" are chocolate crosses and are chocolate colored so I am curious to see what color the keet will be if it hatches. I hope I get more eggs soon. My neighbors keep asking me to get guineas in addition to my chickens and ducks for bug control. When I tell them I have guineas, they tell me to let them out in their yard lol. Maybe I can populate our neighborhood (since my neighbors requested.....seems the neighborly thing to do) with guineas lol

Just an update, I think it's a Polish egg. I candled it last night and seen veins in the egg. However, I have gotten 2 more eggs like that one this week. While the color is the same, the eggs have rounded out some. They are still quite pointy but they have all been laid in the nest boxes. I guess one of my polish is laying peachy/pinky eggs instead of stark white
