Is this a hen or a rooster?

The chicken is about 3 months old.
That much red in comb and wattles at 3 months....it's cockerel.
Bet he was that red at about 6 weeks too.

Another month or so will show the pointy hackles and saddles coming in.

PSA FYI.....semantics, maybe, but can be important communication terms when discussing chicken behavior.
Female chickens are called pullets until one year of age, then they are called hens.
Male chickens are called cockerels until one year of age, then they are called cocks(or cockbirds or roosters).
Age in weeks or months is always a good thing to note.

What makes you think that?

His feathering. He’s going to grow a nice glossy set of saddle feathers, and is already starting to. Look at his saddles compared to my pullets (also Aus)
