My husband and I disagree on the sex of this young one. I say it is a hen, he thinks cock. Junior is 11 months old. I have also attached a picture of her/his mother and Father. I would appreciate breed type identification as well. Junior is a mix!

Hello!

Which bird are you asking about? You seem to have one IB hen, one BS hen, and one IB cock there...

I should add that if you're asking about the Black Shoulder hen, then mom and dad must both be split to Black Shoulder.

I tried to post a picture of just the young one in question. I do not know the background of either the Mom or Dad. I hatched the Dad from an egg that I got from my Sister-in-Laws neighbor. The Mom I got to keep the other one company... I recently rescued 5 chicks from someone that my vet got an S.O.S. call from...can't wait to see what I end up with. They are about 7 weeks old.
So, I guess I'll change Junior's name to Juliette...

Here's a better picture of the bird in question. I think it's a Juliette rather than a Junior. (I have to have something that sounds sort of the same as they know their names)

Thanks for the info! Juliette's Daddy was a handraised guy...he became very territorial and would attack anyone that came within feet of him during the second year of his life. My kids are older teenagers and were scared to death of him. They told me that because I gave him a gender specific name as a chick that he suffered from gender identity issues - his name was Lila and he answered to it so changing it wasn't even an option! He was quite famous in our neighborhood as I used him and a much more docile stuffed animal version of him in my Summer Reading Program last year. He disappeared last fall but not before blessing Roxie and I with a very mild mannered chick.
Thanks again for the I.D. and the links to the information!
