I noticed one of my hens was kind of isolating herself when I was giving the others some treats. Dragged her out from under the deck and gave her a once over. I noticed something coming out of her vent, and pulled this out. It seems like it’s all just a soft shelled egg, but now I’m worried it’s a lash egg. She seemed much better after I got that out of her, now she’s eating and drinking with the flock. Help? She’s a year old.

I’m not really sure that’s a lash egg. It looks more like a soft shell egg with a tail. But I’m definitely no expert in this area so, bumping this for you in hopes someone with more experience might happen along and provide some insight.

I agree with you. Looks like a soft shelled egg with a tail to me too.

@MamaJ1977 was there also a yolk and white?

Agreed it looks like a soft, malformed egg. Hopefully just a glitch in her system. Do they have oyster shell available all the time for calcium? If not I would put some out in a separate feeder for them so they can take what they need. Not enough calcium could be a contributing factor, as can poor diet/too many treats. Often eggs like this are one-off's and don't happen again. They are difficult to pass and make them feel unwell. Once passed they usually perk up. I would keep an eye on her to make sure it doesn't become a regular thing and that she's returned to normal. Hopefully her next egg will be better.
