Looks like he may be an American Gamecock. They come in a straight and pea comb. Mind you they dub the comb waddles and ears for show so they look different than yours if they have been dubbed. It would be easier to tell what he is if you can get him to do a non-lap pose for us to see his stature

I have no doubt you know way more than I do about chicken genetics! However, I am puzzled about making a judgment based on a photo while the roo is laying in someone's lap. I guess I am unsure how you can tell if the chest is too small or the butt is too big if he is laying down.

I am also wondering how often leghorns (I assume a dfferent color than white) are used to make sex links? Seems like folk typically use some sort of production-type red.
