This is my first set of chicks.I picked up a few different breeds from the feed store a couple days ago and I'm trying to figure out what type of silkie this is. They told me the silkies weren't sexed so I'm hoping its a girl since I can't have roosters.

It has five toes, it looks more like a silkie when it's standing, but I haven't been able to get a good pic of it like that.

I just saw a lot of hard feathers, the pic is blurry too.

I'm guessing buff as the color. :)

I hope you get more comments! I have a buff silkie and the feathers are starting to come out looking like the color here, with the dark on the tips of the wings. Mine is a month old, how old is this one?

Could be a cross of some sort but the feathers do not look like a true silkie - there should be very few hard feathers. What color is her skin? How old? More pics would help. She almost looks frizzled in that pic but it's hard to tell.

The bird in my avatar is a partridge silkie. This is the same bird when she was younger.

it's a smoothed hatchery quality silkie. to young to tell gender and coloring right now

I'm not exactly sure how old it is, I think about two weeks. It has black skin. Now I'm wondering if mine is mixed, since it does have more "hard feathers" in comparison to yours. Here's a couple more pics:

It's not wanting to stand straight up for me.

So cute!

hdowden may be on the right track. I am not familar with exactly how a smoothed hatchery silkie looks. The feathers do look a little softer in these new pics.
