Is this a problem?

I've been noticing some loose stools on the floor of the brooder. I haven't noticed which chick it is, if it is just one. I feed them whenever I notice their containers are empty (feels like 10x a day! ;-)), and I haven't noticed any strange behavior. Is this just normal? Oh, and I haven't been giving them any treats. Should I be? Does that make a difference?

It's normal for some chicks in a brood to expulse watery crap. I have never had one die from that.

Thanks for the info...my chicks seem to do that when I clean the brooder...they don't like to be disturbed I guess!

I think that may have been the problem for me too.

Hey y'all they are chickens. Small brains, but a thousand years of behavior built in. They can survive almost any climate, also can survive our screw-ups as we try to grow them. I have nothing but respect for my chicks; they are always good to go. Chickens are my favorite livestock due to their ability to live through any problem they may encounter. When one has a problem like pasty butt, I just clean her up and she's ready for chicken life.
