Is this a pure RIR?

Aloha,

Your Roo is very handsome reminds me of one of my crosses but minus the feathering on legs. But it does look buckeye from the hatchery.... the comb looks Pea combed and the legs look the same and they throw the mahogany coloring like a Rhode Island Red (RIR). He could even be a EE cross with RIR and EE but again this is just a guess... If you do decide to keep/breed him to the RIRs you do have, then they should have the same coloring that RIR chicks have in their down and will have the same plumage like adult RIR too. Some will have Pea combs and other single, unless the rooster i Homozygous for Pea than you may have a Buckeye for sure. Then the offspring will have a Heterozygous Pea comb. The eggs may be the same brown color too. The egg color of both breeds are brown. But if you have pullets throwing blue-green eggs then you have an EE roo of some kind. You would have to test breed the roo with them. But, again, is up to you and I really like the way your roo looks like. He definitely a keeper. Sorry for writing so much!
