Is this a RIR, a NewHampshireRed or something else?

I think it's a little too dark to be a buff orpington (it appears to have a little black on it too). Are you sure it's a rooster? It looks like a New Hampshire red hen to me.

That buff orp photo looks a bit misleading as far as the reddish tint, or maybe your monitor makes it look even redder. Buff Orps are a very golden color.

Gee, maybe it is an orpington rooster. I just don't see the hackle or saddles. Maybe slow to feather???

Its not an Orpington or an RIR, that much is for sure.

To me it looks like a NHR. Check for black feathers in the wing and tail area.

Definitely NOT an Orpington. It's a New Hampshire. Hen or rooster, I'd have to know the age.

It has too much tail to be an Orp. It looks like a NHR to me. RIR would be much darker red.

I put him in with my hens last night so I hope he is a NHR I really wouldn't mind a suprise hen. I was secretly hoping a few of the "Meat Roosters" would end up being a hen but so far I don't think so.
"He" arrived on June2 from MM so I would say he is around 12 wks old give or take a week I am to lazy to go get the callender down.
By this age should there comb be at least that big? there are a couple of the RIR I am thinking could be a hen.

I have 20 NHR's and this is one, it is a hen too, it has all the classic signs of a NHR. no dought about it.
