I keep Barred Rocks and have for years.

One of my hens is skittish and protective *although* that's only because she is the top hen.

That chicken is definitely a hen/pullet.

hate to say it but that's 100% hen.

It’s female. Likely the dominant hen which is why it’s crowing and doesn’t get pecked on. The feather pattern is wrong for a male and they comb is to small.

Seems like the question would not have been asked if the OP were sure that it was one or the other. Not sure why so much denial that the bird is female. when so much agreement to the contrary. I actually learned some things from the informational posts - thanks for weighing in and for the OP!

Fist of all he’s what helped up at the vary beginning and he was also taught by a veterinarian on chicken care and that veterinarian also raised chickens as well

Unless the vet was an Ornithologist, that doesn't mean anything at all.

It is a hen, you can tell by its small comb, roosters have bigger combs, and by the feet. Roosters have bigger feet, and longer legs. You can also tell that the tail feathers are different from a rooster's.

Idt that the feet thing is a rule, nor the legs, just never heard that before. I have stubby-legged roos and long-legged hens. I also have large-combed hens and roos with smaller combs.

OP, I personally think U are lucky!

SO many people on here come saying 'is this a hen...' and it's a roo! Many would love to be in your situation! A 'roo' that's a hen is rare and a treasure....
