you are lucky, my buttonquail hen will try to get my male to mount her, she will run in front of him and lay down. but even then he just walks away, it is very uncommon for him to breed her. after several times of my hen trying to get him to she attacks him if he doesn't LOL!!!Honestly, I'm not too sure about that. He may just be a more gentle boy who knows better, lol. We once had one that would try to mount everything and another that would only mount hens when they wanted him too.
Button sounds like your hen is a cougar not quail.
