    hes not mine , but he is one of the chickens at the barn i board my horse at , i like to spend time with them tough
    just curious if its a roo

    I am not sure how old this bird is.. But I am leaning towards pullet. I don't see saddle feathers.

    aw , i was hoping it was a rooster cause the rooster got killed by somthing a few weeks back , and now its all hens so no more fertle eggs for my bator , i thought that this one might be cause of how big the ?crest? is the red thing on its head lol .

    Look for chickens with saddle feathers... do you know what that means? They are long skinny feathers on their back near their tail.
    That is usually a dead give away.

    Looks like a typical Rhode Island Red or New Hampshire Red Hen.

    Definately a hen. She should be laying, looks like.

    It's a hen...and the thing on top of the birds head is called a COMB.

    The red things hanging below the beak are called WATTLES.
