I purchased barred rock baby’s from a local feed store. They are now around 8 weeks old and one is looking like a Rooster! Am I losing it? Or is that a different breed of barred rock? The second pic is of a assumed sister and another baby I got a few weeks later. Also do they look old enough to move into the coop? We have a sectioned off area for introducing. Weather is 70’s windy in the day and 50’s at night. Thank you! New to Roosters.

Yes, that looks like a rooster. And 6es, they can definitely go outside. Do you still have them on supplimental heat? If yes, then I suggest weaning them immediately. My 5 week olds are outside and have been since 3.5 weeks.

Thank you! I took the light away about a week ago. I just don’t like the idea of heating the coop when it’s so far from the house. We do have high winds here in California and rain this weekend. My older ladies have a well built house. These guys won’t share that for a few weeks. So, I am gonna partition a part of the coop with chicken wire and extra nesting boxes.

partioned area.
