OK, I'm no expert - but I think it's a hen. Their combs grow and turn red right before they lay and I think the comb is just developing. Again - I'm just a hobby chicken slave.

trying to get another pic to come up, the rest of this group of chicks all have a very small comb, they are not old enough to lay only about 16 wks at the most.

the above pic is same chick in back, and one of the others in front, see difference in combs? they are from same batch.

ok must have a pullet, thanks yall.

@ibeier2000, you said they get comb at 5 weeks. We only got these 1 week ago, so don't know if he had comb then or not.The guy we bought them from said they were all hens and we just said give us 6 of them, so didn't really notice until a day or so ago that one had a bigger comb. So I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens! An egg or a crow!

I raise BO's. The roos will get a bigger comb at 5 weeks. At 16 wks you have a early developing pullet.

Thanks. I jumped in on this thread. I have 2 BOs, 9 weeks Saturday. One has a VERY pronounced comb compared to its companion. I bought all pullets, but I knew that was not a sure thing.
