Is this a rooster?

I didn't read all the posts but I had a RIR hen that had a few fountain tail feathers. She lost them in her first molt and Yes SHE LAYS EGGS.
So I vote hen LOL.

Well finally checking back to this thread, and low and behold I thought I would read she layed and egg.................LOL I didn't expect her to HATCH OUT 7 BABIES HEHEHE
I told you he was a she, my boys combs were twice that size at her age. So very happy you now have a broody to hatch you babies and maybe give you some eggs too. i have 1 BR pullet and hope she is my broody as well next spring I would love to see all them cute little fuzzy butts following her around. Looks like a rooster has the wattle and comb and tail feathers like one, could it be castrated by any chance? that would be why ot acts more like ahen than a rooster

I really wish people would read the thread before saying "Roo!" "Oh yeah.. Definitely a Roo". I refuse to put my chicks on here for this reason. I don't need people freaking me out with their uneducated guesses. I have seen too many people say "Oh no. I have to give away my chicken now!" on someones flat out guess.

But thanks, I am happy with the outcome too. 1 roo is plenty for me. But of course that chicken just gave me 7 more chicks, half are going to be roos for sure. Ack!

These babies are 4 months old. Hens are doms, Roo is PBR.
Broodys are awesome creatures. What a good mama! I bet those chicks are doms too!

Yeah... none of my dominique hens looked hennish to me. Fountain tails, huge combs and wattled- but still rounded saddle feathers (the only thing that gave me hope). I freaked out right up until I watched them lay with my own eyes.

hey its most probly a roo and if not it loooks old enough to be laying put him/her in a age with a hen and see ifthey mate or if u end up with 2 eggs

That is a rooster since his tail feathers curve downward
