I hatched an egg from a this barred 1/2 Bielefelder hen (other half is SLW & BCM).
The father is a BCM rooster.
The chick’s down is solid black. Does this mean she’s a she? I think a male chick would have to be barred and therefore have a head spot? Or would the mixing of breeds change the rules about being able to visually identify the barring? This is the only chick I have from this pairing right now so I can’t make any comparisons.
