Is this a speckled Sussex and pullet?

Scarlet is 8.5 weeks old. I bought her as a speckled Sussex but she looks different from some pictures I see here. Second question is if she is really a she.

You are right, it looks like it is maybe 20% Speckled Sussex. The facial features are rooster, yet the body is pattern with a henlike patterning

local feed store and they get their chicks from Cackle Hatchery

as long as she is a girl I don't mind genetics. Out of my 5 chickens (all diff. breeds) she is the most outgoing and getting into trouble one (can't seem to make the run Scarlet proof - she always finds a way) She is the first to come and jump on my lap, I would hate for her to be a him
