I bought two dozen eggs from a local a few weeks ago. It was a pretty horrible hatch - eight of them weren't even fertilized. The person I bought it from said the parents were both silkies, but the father carried the naked-neck gene. I thought it would be fine, as I read that showgirls still have dark/black skins, which is what my parents wanted. A few were born today, and I'm a bit hesitant - a third of them have pink skins. Are they actually silkies/showgirl chicks, or did I misunderstand how their genetics work/scammed?

Probably lower quality, but it is difficult to tell this early. This one has pink skin, and I am not seeing much evidence of a crest. What about the 5 toes? What type of comb does it have?

Apologies, I'm pretty new to chickens so I have zero clue what you mean by "comb." Here is a sideways view of the chick. Luckily, I did pass first grade so I can safely say, yes, it does have five toes!

Oh, well, the chick is only a day old so no combs yet. I bought it from someone else, so I'm not sure how the parents look like.
I would give them some time to grow. It will be more clear later. The chick is very cute regardless of anything else, so enjoy them while they're little. You can post updates any time.
