I bought 7 Ameraucanas as chicks but as they got older this one looks different from the others. His body shape and feathers are different from the other 2 cockerels I had out of the bunch. They were hatched Easter weekend, but she said this one and one that turned out to be a pullet we’re a week younger. It does look like he has a slight beard you can see best in the first photo but I just don’t know
Thank you in advance!!

I'm definitely no Ameraucana expert, although I have a couple. It looks more like an Arcana, which is one of the ancestors in the cross that is Ameraucana. Guessing it is, but maybe the Arcana genes are stronger in his looks? Dark green legs, he should be good for siring green/blue layers. *Edit, maybe Arcana isn't the breed I was looking for there. Jungle fowl looking chicken that they crossed for the Ameraucanas, if anyone can help me with this brain fart I won't be offended. They were mainly black.

Were you thinking Auracauna? The breed that the Ameraucana was derived from?

Is he a brown red? He's colored like a black copper Marans, but obviously isn't, wrong leg color. Beautiful!

I’m not really sure on his colouring either? He’s got the deep red feathers that you see but on his saddle feathers some of the red feather ends almost have a sort of wheaten looking colour? Thank you, he’s interesting for sure! :love

I probably was, I had read on them a while back, I need to find the articles, everything is in my mental filing cabinet, just nothing is in alphabetical order. I like the tender pun by the way.

No pun intended! I didn’t even know I made one :lau

Crossbred for sure. Could be an Easter Egger maybe even an Olive Egger.

I would guess some kind of cross breed? But wow he's beautiful, I love his coloring! :love

HE HAS THE COLORINGS OF MY OLIVE EGGERS.....HE IS BEAUTIFUL...

I was thinking he was some sort of cross with Ameraucana since that’s what they were sold as.. I didn’t even think of OE. Maybe that’s what the other cockerel is as well ... I gave away the third one that had the white bottom feet :caf
