Is this an attached umbilical?

This silkie chick just hatched (with assistance, it was very malpositioned (these were shipped eggs). I waited somewhere between 24-36 hours to help. It tried zipping but was making a vertical line down the shell instead...
Anyway, it kicked off the shell on its own but had stringy stuff that was binding its legs, I carefully trimmed that but then I noticed it has sort of a red blob attached to where the umbilical is. I’m wondering if this is just a rough “belly button” and will heal on its own, or if I have something more to worry about. It also has curled feet so it’s having a hard time standing and I’m worried it may pull whatever it is and make it worse.
thanks!

Hi, I can't see the pictures too good but to me it looks like the chick didn't completely finish taking in its insides. The curled toes would explain why this chick was having a difficult time hatching. Is it okay now?

Thanks for the reply, I agree with you... it’s doing well so far and it looks like it’s absorbed some of what is poking out (there’s still a little glob of red).. I’m hoping it will all be absorbed soon. I’ll make it some little sandals soon to flatten its feet.

Good idea, some little sandals would work to fix little chicks feet. As for the little glob of red you want to make sure that other chicks can’t peck at it and that the chick doesn’t pull it out further. I had a chick from a shipped egg hatch from the wrong side of the egg, it hatched a little early and didn’t finish fully absorbing the yolk and some of its intestines. I wasn’t at home when this happened but when I got back I could see the yolk had burst and the chick had pulled out more of its insides, it died before I was able to help. Good luck with your chicks!!
