For how many years will they lay eggs at a sensible rate (1 every 3-4 days at least)?I understand.
according to the following site, Australorps mature at 16-20 weeks old, and will lay 5 eggs or so a week. (huh, more than I thought they would) That's about what I thought that a black sex link would do. Chickens usually live between 5-8+ years, from what I understand.

Also, I wanted to thank you and others on this forum. I belong to a lot of professional forums where things are very technical (this forum has much technicality as well), and adult learning is the expectation. I would like to admit that I have been asking for spoon-fed information, because I do not have the time to educate myself on this topic before I have to make decisions that have lasting consequences. In the future, I will educate myself, I simply do NOT have the time to read up on all of the things and some of the "organic knowledge only" is what I need, as well.
Despite this, NOONE has been rude to me, locked my threads because I am sure it has been asked before, if not in the same way, curtly directed me to a search button, etc. and for that, I would like to say thank-you all very much for how you've helped and interacted with me, even though I've basically got my hand out right now. Thank-you!
