Hello! This is my first time ever raising chicks and I picked up this red cochin about 4 days ago. Its wings didn't look like this until today and weren't really like this yesterday. I don't know if this is angel wing or something else? Also the first day I had them they were fed Lola's layer mix accidentally by my girlfriend. They only had access to it for 20 hours at the most. I don't know if the extreme amount of calcium in it would do this or what not, but since then they have been on organic starter. Also, this is the only one out of 6 that this is happening too. Any ideas or suggestions would be great!

thanks!

This is a common problem in Silkies (split wing), which I breed. I never bother with looking for it until the chicks have gone thru a few juvenile molts. Alot of times, when their feathers are growing, they just look wonky for a while. When this chick gets a couple of months behind it, then I would worry about split wing. If you don't plan on breeding it, its not an issue. If you bought it for breeding, and the wing(s) stay split, then I would cull it from you breeding pen.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info! I didn't plan on breeding them so it should be ok haha.

thanks again
