Went to SS today to pick out 6 new Barred Rock chicks (since the last batch I got turned out to be four cockerels and two pullets). This time, I picked them out myself. Since hardly any had a dark leg wash, and all of them had dark fuzz, I based my choices on the feathers. Hopefully I picked 6 pullets.
Since I was so intent on identification, I didn't really pay much attention to the faces (didn't even bother with the spot on the heads...since my four cockerels have pullet spot traits). I got home and started taking pictures. Two of my new babies have brown around their eyes...and my 4 week old chicks didn't have brown when they were newborns. They told me at SS that they were barred rocks.
Are these two mutts??
If they are, is there anyone who can guess what they may be mixed with??
