I have 15wk. old chickens that I switched from chick starter/grower feed to grower/finisher feed about a month ago. We purchased another bag of feed this week, not realizing it was chick starter/grower. We have been feeding them that. Is that a problem since the protien content is 5% more than the grower feed, and they are approaching laying age?

The different feeds are set up for what each stage of a chicken needs but as long as you already bought it and are feeding it to them, just give them oyster shell to help with the egg producing. The higher protein might make them plumper. When I put my 8 week olds in with my layer flock, I had both available and the layers loved to eat the starter so I also put the oyster shell to supplement. Egg production reduced some but they were all fine.
