Is this Barred Rock a Cockerel or Pullet??

I read that if the Barred Rock has a large white spot on top of head then it’s a Cockerel. I bought both of these from TSC out of same PULLET Bin but Baby (the lighter one shown in pic) definitely looks different than Pepper (darker one). Baby had a larger white spot on top of head than Pepper when I first got them. Is Baby (the lighter one) a Cockerel??

Baby looks like he might be some kind of hatchery hybrid instead of a barred rock. I think it is too early to determine sex because of that. Her/his coloring is not typical.

This is another one of those odd BR chicks. It seems they are always pullets as well.

@TheOddOneOut, have you noticed the influx of these chicks lately? I do believe they have all come from TSCs.

Thank you for your help! I’m a first time chicken owner. My first group of 6 (about 12 weeks old now) came from all Feed and Seed. These 2 Barred Rocks (now about 6 weeks old) are the only experience I have with TSC so I’m learning a lot lol. Don’t think I’ll be buying anymore from TSC!
