Is this barring (sapphire gem)?

9B0CCDC7-21BB-4782-B5DA-16673E29E504.jpeg I think I have two females, but it does seem like there is subtle barring, black and dark gray. Does that count as barring?

I’m not 100% convinced that they are both sapphire gems. I only ordered one and they other chick was supposed to be a brown leghorn. Clearly it’s not that but my confidence in how the farm store sorted chicks is low.

I have a sapphire gem and when she was feathering in she got some dark baring, just like you said, black and dark gray. Soon, however, it disappeared and now she looks like a normal sapphire gem hen!
I'm not experienced enough to tell breed, but at this age I don't think you should worry too much about barring, especially if they were from a feed store and commercial stock. I can't say for certain what their sex is but don't worry!
