I have a Silkie roo that is still learning to crow. He is a beauty and I have worked with him since I got him at 5 wks old. When I go out to check on my chickens he scrambles up to my foot to peck me about 3 good times and he runs off. He is now doing it to my oldest son. I have been pecked on the hand once also while I was trying to catch him. Is there any suggestions to fix him from getting any worse?

is he mad or over friendly thinking you may have a treat for him? i hand feed mine and sometimes get that . i just make sure i have shoes on they cant hurt through. i have a polish hen that thinks the shiny things on my boots are just the best thing ever. i would try gloves and let him peck away until he sees its not doing any good. i hope it would help anyway.

The upside is that his pecking isn't necessarily an aggressive behavior--if he was trying to cause you harm, he'd go about it very differently. The downside is, I don't know what is causing him to do this or how to fix it.

I have a little banty rooster that will bite me sometimes if I reach for him because he's mostly blind and doesn't realize I'm not a mean animal trying to hurt him. Once I have a hold of him though, he calms down. I don't know if this is in any way related to what you're going through, but it's all I have to offer.

I try to hold him every other day and he will nap in my lap so this shocks me! It is like a mad pecking at our feet. To tell you a little I got him at about 5 wks. I have 2 RiR and one game hen. I should have bought 2 silkies because he was so bullied so I kept him seperate at night. I bought 2 more silkies that I have integrated with my Silkie roo.

I will try taking treats. This may be part of it. If I bring any treats the RiR will steal everything so I have to throw tarts further away for them so my silkies can get theirs. I will try working with treats and wear gloves! I will not give up yet.

Thank you!
