Is this bird barred?

This is a Rhodebar hen or barred RIR I synthesized from RIR and black sex linked. The barring gene produces a barred buff bird.

This is one of the RIR breeders I have produced. As you can see he is a nice dark color.

Here is a brother of the above rhodebar hen.

The plumage can be light and spotty on RIR. You have to breed your birds to consistently produce a nice solid dark mahogany color. The hen below is what I have produced from utility birds from a hatchery.

It could even be stress marks, if you guys had the extreme heat we had this year. I have some young oegb that almost looked barred, they have so many stress marks.
