Thank U!!!! I sure hope so!! He/she is starting to get a tiny raised spot on the comb, not red though! But everything I have read makes me nervous, its hatch mate is a BCM and a def roo, no doubt from the 1st week!!! I cant keep it if its a roo, sooo I really hope its a pullet!!! Thank u!!

I think cochins are the hardest to sex. I have a barred cochin roo that was Harriet until the BO beat him up and now he is Harry and has his own girl (had too but Big Momma passed when I racoon came through and the racoon did not leave the way it came in!). We ran out and bought an incubator and have Big Momma's and Lil' Momma's eggs in the bator.

Harry still does not have much of a comb. His saddle feather did not show up until the last....finally the wind blew and they showed themselves.

So, good luck.....I need to read more about wing sexing chickens myself and try to understand it better.

Oh WOW!! I LOVE his feathering!! Yours does have a significant comb, mine is 3weeks today so I guess by next wed, I can get happy if the comb is still little!!

Mine stands straight up like yours, do all cochins stand like that or is that a male thing?? The 4 hens I have in the backyard, are not "up" like this?? But neither is the boy BCM that just hatched??? Thank U for sharing your pic, I love seeing pics, and like I said before, this is the 1st cochin I have ever seen, and I am sooo in love with it!!!

He was my first too! His comb was getting pretty pink around the base but waddles were growing by the day. From pics I have seen a lot of them stand like that. love it! And for feather sexing, I heard it doesn't work on bantams.... Don't remember why they though!! It really sucks I couldn't keep him to breed him!!!
