I have 2 Black Sex Chickens that we got from Tractor Supply. They are 14 weeks old and were sold as females. They were both completely black chicks, but now they look so different. Is one a rooster? Everything I read says the roosters have a white dot on their head as chicks and neither of these did. Thank you for any input you can give.

You're attachments are not working, so we cannot see the burden question. Black sex link hens can vary greatly in appearance in regards to the balance of leakage to black plumage, a male will be barred in pattern

Thank you for your replies. I have never heard of an Asian Black, but it definitely would explain how we could have ended up with a rooster. We will never again buy chicks from Tractor Supply! We bought 6 pullets that day and 3 of them are roosters that we now have to find new homes for. And of course one of them is our 4 year old daughter's favorite chicken. They should just label them all "straight runs" and not pretend that they are females. Not cool, Tractor Supply!

You have to remember that Male vs Female isn't TSC's fault. Mislabeling bins is their fault, kinda... Essentially, they order a bunch of chicks from Hoovers (I think) because they have a contract. Hoovers sends what they do, however they label it, and its up to the employees at TSC to put them in bins and such. Its up to Hoovers to properly sex the chicks... not TSC.
