Is this Buff Orpington a Rooster??

Hi Everyone!

I'm new to chickens. I am posting some pictures of one of my Buff Orpingtons because I'm worried that it's actually a rooster! If anyone can tell, I would really appreciate it.

I got these two buff orpington pullets from my neighbor's mom and now I'm worried that the one in the photos below is actually a rooster. Since I'm not supposed to have chickens where I live anyway, I'm naturally worried. I'm worried about finding a home for this chicken if it's a boy

Sorry that the photos aren't better, but hopefully someone can tell?? Of the two "girls", this one is developing wattles and coomb, while the other one really hasn't yet. I mean, they're there..but not like on this chicken. Thankfully there's been no crowing...yet.

Again...sorry for the poor quality photos, but I did my best.. You can see it's head on the top right..

How old are they? That would help to determine the sex.

Oh..sorry. They're 15 weeks old now.

Also, she/he sounds like a chicken. I mean, it's definetly a "bawk, bawk bawk" sound that she/he makes. There has been nothing remotely sounding like it's trying to crow. Yet.

Plus, these two are so lovey together! They cuddle up in the nesting box together, nap outside of the coop all cuddled up together. It's so sweet!! It all seems kind of girly to me, but I've never had chickens before, so I don't know.

I am not sure myself but they both look a lot like my two hens that are around the same age. If it is a rooster it shouldn't start trying to crow until around 5 to 6 months old at least my road island reds didn't. Their crows were very cut off at first so you shouldn't have a problem finding it a home before someone hears it.

Oh..I do hope they're both girls! Thanks for your thoughts on this. As I mentioned above, these are the first chickens I've ever had and I've really fallen for these two and I want to keep them! These two are the sweetest things. Thanks again..and have a great day!

Hard to tell, but it looks like the saddle feathers are a bit pointy and not rounded. Pointy saddle feathers = Roo. I never planned on having roosters either. But I am soooo glad I have been able to. All of my neighbors have been so wonderful. I would cringe when they'd roo, being so worried that they would annoy the neighbors but it seems like I was the only one being affected! lol. I explained that I didn't plan on having any but fell in love with them and the way they look after their ladies. Take it one day at a time and maybe you'll be lucky one way or another. If it is a roo, don't be shocked by the first attempts at mating. It seems a bit rough but everyone gets the hang of it.

Humm....if it turns out to be a rooster it won't be around here long enough to mate. Or else it had better be quick about it!!
I'm not even supposed to have chickens, let alone a rooster. Several people in my neighborhood have chickens in spite of the law, but there's no way that a rooster would pass muster around here.
