Is this Bumblefoot?

I've searched the threads but mostly people take pictures when it is further along. So, is this the beginning of Bumblefoot?

It is on her foot, and knee (hock?) and I don't know what it is. Thoughts?? Jeez, it is hard to take pictures of a chicken you are holding yourself!

Does anyone else have an opinion? I have searched and searched and found no information on how it looks when it starts, only when everything is full of puss, swollen and infected looking.

I suppose I will start epsom salt soaks this evening and go from there.

I'm no expert but I have been dealing with it. I don't think that is bumblefoot. It is from a scratch or poke or cut that gets infection in it so it is pinky red early on....I caught it early on one of my polishes. I was checking everyones feet because I have a hen whose feet were all in a mess from it. I am not letting it get away from me any more so we do foot checks here. Do the soaking anyway...it surely won't hurt and keep an eye on it....but I don't think that's it.

Thanks a lot Welasharon. I washed it well tonight, though her feet are basically clean as a whistle anyway (shrug) and I did the epsom salt thing. She was fine for it and didn't fuss too much. I tried to scrub the black spots and put neosporin on them. The offending areas have thickened skin and almost remind me of a callus, how they're a bit scaley and thick. I'm going to keep an eye on her and keep the spots clean and bandaged as best as I can.

I'd skip the bandage and just do the soak. Less moisture trapped up against it means less chance of something nasty wanting to grow.

OK, I'll be soaking some chicken footsies twice a day in epsom salt until they improve. Good thing this is my 'sweet' chicken!!

This is my daughter's hen, Sugar Cookie, and she was all over her while I soaked the foot. It is a rare treat to have one of our chickens in the house so my daughter was kissing the chicken, hugging the chicken, and touching her face. I don't think either of them minded at all!
