I just got this golden laced wyandotte chick yesterday from Family Farm and Home. Its lethargic... wont eat or drink on it's own. So I've been hand feeding it egg yolk and hand watering water with electrolyte and probiotics mix.

Anyway I noticed this chicks body is significantly shorter than all the other chicks I've had and it just looks kind of odd to me like the body is short but the legs are normal.

Pic of same age cornish cross just for comparison.

I'm no chick or chicken expert by any means, but I would continue doing what your doing it's keeping the chick alive and with a companion incouraging it, it might get better. If it doesn't, than you might have to do the human thing and let it go.
I've been doing my best but so far it doesn't seem to be improving.

I was just kinda wondering if maybe it is deformed and I'm battling a more serious health issue that I may not be able to win.

I've had other lethargic chicks and been able to nurse them to health relatively quickly but this one is throwing me for a loop and I'm a bit worried about it's quality of life if it does manage to perk up.

I know how you feel I had a hen with a deformed foot she was never able to fully extend her leg so all she could do was hobble around and it was sad I was always wondering what her quality of life was

I also had a chick with something wrong with its back, she was put down. And a chick that was thrown out of the nest by its mum and broke its leg. It's always so hard to decide, do I wait and see if it gets better or do I put them out of there misery.
