Hi! It's a hen/ female. Some can take up to a year to lay. Her comb and wattles tell me she should start soon!
Thank you very much I hope so you just made my day I was getting worried . What I was having to do with the chicken because I cannot have a noisy chicken where I live. Thank you again

The reason that I ask is that those of us in the northern hemisphere and particularly farther north are dealing with shortening daylight hours. Chickens commonly (but not always) stop laying for the winter. Most of mine have stopped laying for the year. Yours may not start until early spring.

Beautiful girl. I swear some of mine are holding out on me on purpose, lol. When I go in to let them out in the morning, I sing "Good morning! Good morning! Let's lay some eggs this morning. Good morning. Good morning to you!" (Remember the Good Morning song from Singing in the Rain) I'm hoping they'll start cranking out the eggs just to get me to shut up.

Very pretty gal. ❤️ As the others have stated above, Orps take forever to lay, the wait can nearly kill you. :p But once they get going, they are great layers!

I thought that I put a light in there which comes on five in the morning and goes off at 7 at night. They can go outside as well.
