Is this cochin a rooster or a hen?

Approx. 8 week old cochin. Has not starting crowing. Is it a rooster or a hen?

Anything young like that crowing, is a rooster.

Is it a barred cochin?

These are my first chickens. They came out of a group of bantams. I guess its barred. He/she does NOT crow yet. Cochins seem confusing because hens and roosters get the red comb.

thats a cockerel comb and wattles are nice and red and big

My hens never got red in the face until close to laying. Their combs stayed really small too. I can't see his feet, but it just didn't look like a cochin from the pictures Not often I see barred cochins.

Here is one of my pullets a few weeks before laying. Her comb/wattles are way smaller/less pink than your boy even at his young age.

He/she has tons of feathers on the feet.

I also have a silkie. How do you know if its a rooster? I don't have pictures of it.
