Is this cochin a rooster or a hen?

I also have a silkie. How do you know if its a rooster? I don't have pictures of it.

Depends on the age. They will have streamers coming out of their crest. Usually (not always) their crest is less round than pullets. The combs will be bigger on roosters as well. I find that my roosters legs are longer where my hens are closer to the ground:

Roo Depending how old he/she is, the hackle feathers (neck area) look like an extended mullet. That's the best way I can describe it

I don't have a good photo, but the feathers on top look like a mohawk About 7 weeks old. I got it a few days after the cochin.

Mine crowed 10 times in one morning and then hasn't since. It's been since Saturday that I've heard him crow.

I bet they crow just as much as any other chicken once they are ready to
