is this cochin pure or a mix?

This laid-back and very sweet baby is 6 days old... not sure if pure or a mix? Could be mixed with brahma..?

Any guesses on if it's a boy or a girl yet?

looks like you got yourself a pure black cochin there.

open up the wing and look at the first set of feathers comeing in, if they look even across, ( boy)
if they look uneven ( girl) .

You can't judge cochins when they are that tiny. They take sooo long to mature. I've had some really dumpy looking chicks grow up to be exceptional. If he has a straight comb (pea is dominant I think) then he is pure cochin.

I have to jump in here and ask a question. I got some supposedly pure bred cochins from ideal. I think this was crossed with a brahma, but it has a single comb. Any thoughts?

(I don't mean to take over this thread. Just wanted to post this quick question).
