Is this Cochin hen show quality? These are before her bath. She is a bantam. 6 Months old. I am going to post better pics tomorrow.

Well, of course it depends on the show in which you are entering her. However, I would say that in a sanctioned show, she would likely place lower. Remember that if she's the only barred cochin pullet/hen, then she will be "best of variety" because she's the only one!!

She really should be quite a bit rounder. I've posted a pic below of a group of mottled cochins that are only 4 months old below. You can imagine how much they will fill out by 8 months to a year of age. I wouldn't show a bird any younger than about 8 months. Out of these I could probably come up with one that would do pretty well at a show. See the extreme underfluff in the rear? They should look like they don't have a neck and their cushion should rise of high above their heads. You shouldn't really be able to see their feet because of the massive body feathering. Feet feather on your bird could be longer and more massive.

I never like to criticize another person's birds...just provide photos of ones that I know are show birds and let you see the differences.

she's not show quality, to narrow on the body, you can breed her with a good quality black roo ( I assume these are better than cuckoos where you are ), and keep a son of that breeding and breed him to 3-4 good quality black hens.
