Is this common with hens?

As to where I got the B rooster.... I have a friend, she is a crazy chicken lady too. She found a place where a gal was raising some very nice pure bred birds. The story is that she ordered a dozen of these eggs from Germany, only 4 hatched and they were all roosters! I bought Chrome for $20.00) My dh teased me about paying for a rooster . But I am glad I did,

I love his feather pattern, and it really blends in with SD prairies. I sent a dozen eggs to the kindegarten class, and later the school cook kept the birds. She posted and all of hers had that barring.

He has perfect manners. I have not lost a bird to day time predators since I have got him. He is alert and a darling. His crow is a little different, and the girls adore him.

I can HARDLY wait!

Sure, you could even split that in half with wire if you needed to....could split the door too, tho that'd take a bit more work..

Hey all. Well tomorrow (Saturday July 18th) will be 21 days. I'm not sure how many (if any) eggs will hatch. Update on the hens--the one that was laying on the floor of the nest house--gave up about 5 days ago. I wasn't sure if they eggs were still viable so I put them in with the other hen's eggs. I'm not sure how many total she's sitting on. The hen that gave up sitting, is still getting bullied by the other hens and the rooster. She tries to go out and eat and drink, but she gets chased back in the nest house. I have noticed she's a little smaller in size now. I have been throwing feed in the nest house for both hens and spraying water in there. Hoping once the eggs hatch out, things will be back to normal. Hubby said if they go broody again, we might get the hens and eggs and put them in the brooder.

Well, as of this evening (around 4ish), we had no chicks. Will check again tomorrow.

still no chicks. How much longer should I give the eggs, since the momma is still sitting on them? Today (Sunday the 19th) is the 22 day.

I know when you incubate them it's about 21 days, figured it would be the same if the hens sat on them?

Sorry your right, 21 days, got mixed up with turkeys, sorry, I usually give them like four days past then I pull them, I let them sit a day because I'm worried I'm killing them and then Ibury them so they don't explode, or stink
