Is this common with hens?

Okay, this isn't helpful at all, but your chicks are absolutely adorable. Congratulations to you and your broody hen!

Thank you Hufflefluff. :)

My second broody hen did much better, she has 8 fluffballs following her around. I have been hatching out with a broody hen, and really the whole flock is rather used to it, the broody hen does puff up and scream if she thinks they are too close, but really, the layers and the rooster are just acting like they are part of the flock.

I did have a tussle between the two broody hens last night at bedding down time, but I just watched. They did work it out, and all got settled.

I THINK ? I got 8 pullets and 3 roosters out of both hatches, just going by the chipmunk stripe and the white spot on the head. The rooster is autosexing, but the hens are riffraff.
