chickens r life

Honestly, 2 buff Orpington, 2 Barred Rock and 2 RIR chickens can't even fit on a roost at night when the length is only 4.5 ft; the chicken at the bottom of the pecking order or "chickens" will be sleeping on the floor.

Well, for that run space, I would say max of 5 birds. You see, my birds only get 2 sq ft each, and I have large breeds, BUT they have more than 10 sq ft in the run, and after 8 in the morning, they free range for the rest of the day, so the coop is only for sleeping. In your case, because the run is smaller, the coop needs to make up for it and be larger, with fewer birdsSaltandpepper, for reference it would look like the "Bluegrass Coop" by MisterChicken, with the coop elevated a couple feet or so. The coop itself would be about 3' x 4.5' x 4', but I'm trying to extend that to about 4-5' x 5' x 4' but I'm fighting a couple dead trees, pool equipment, and a fence. The run, probably maximum space of 11' x 5' x 6' but I won't know until I clear that area out.
