Trying to kill fire ants... is this chicken safe? It's all I can find.

Just be aware that the package may not say "Food Grade" on it. I recently bought a 1 1/2 lb. bucket of DE at my local co-op that only said "organic non-plant food product" on the label. The guy at the co-op told me they carry it for people that garden organically and that some folks give it to their dogs for worms. I called the company to be sure before using it. It is indeed food grade and they sent me an e-mail statement to back it up. It wasn't until I actually opened the bucket that I found the instructions inside. It's sold under the name Earthsafe Organics. If I were you, I'd call or e-mail the company before using it. Tell them specifically that you want to use it around your chickens.

I've emailed the company to see. After reading another thread (that I saw after I posted this one), it seems that some companies make the same grade but don't call it such maybe due to liability or some stupid FDA thing or something.

As soon as I hear, I will post what they say!

Thanks all!

-- side note--
My Great Pyrenees is running around and barking alot in the backyard, I think my neighborhood foxes may be on the prowl! Got my .22 handy and Mac (the dog) will keep them at bay

Plus my coop is pretty fox proof I think. Funny, I used to enjoy watching the family of foxes roam through the neighborhood. My neighbor and myself actually threw them scraps. Now they are my enemy!

I can't read it, but the Silica content s/b less than 3%. It looks like double digits to me on the label, which is toxic. Please make sure before bringing this near your birds.
