Is this EE chick considered “brown”?

I’ve heard that brown Easter Egger chicks are always pullets. Is this interesting little colored fluffy thing considered “brown” or is there another name for its color? It’s around two weeks old (still too young, I know) and feathering out slower than the rest of its cohort, very friendly and quite a cheeky thing for something so tiny.

I don't know if this will help, but this is a sister and brother, the darker chipmunk colored one is a cockerel and the odd fluffy one turned out to be a pullet lays blue eggs now. these are some comparison pics I took as they were growing up.

Your chicks are very pretty . I hope it is a pullet if that is what you want. But I can't go by being brown at hatch as being a girl for EE's since they are mixed breeds and you never know what they inherited from. I thought mine being that chipmunk was going to be the pullet and the other one possibly a male since it wasn't a real distinct chipmunk brown pattern, but wala, just the opposite. you will know in a few weeks though.

I have 2 EE. One light one and one dark. My darker one started feathering out like yours. The first pic is when she was around a week old and the last is now at 7 weeks.
Oh my gosh, that wing banding looks spot on to mine! Yours is a very beautiful bird! I've been wondering what mine might look like as an adult, my other easter egger looked pretty different as a chick, (yay combo breeds! ;-))

It's down color pattern is called partridge. Partridge is also called brown.

There's also silver partridge.
I have an EE of the same coloring you have.

Oh, thank you! It's great to know what the down fluff color is called- its so cute!

I also have EE ("Mel") and she (hopefully) is also a cheeky little thing! At three weeks old, she has some serious 'tude to all the other chicks so thinking she's going to be at the top. This pic was from last week - she has really fluffy cheeks. I read that females have more distinct lines than males but one never knows ...
